All Shook Up is a high-energy jukebox musical inspired by the music of Elvis Presley and the spirit of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Set in a small 1950s town, the story follows a guitar-playing stranger who rolls in and shakes things up—breaking rules, hearts, and traditions. With mistaken identities, rebellious romance, and a whole lot of rock ‘n’ roll, All Shook Up is a feel-good show full of laughter, love, and classic hits like “Jailhouse Rock,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

There are so many moving parts in putting on a high quality musical. In order for this to be a fun and positive experience for everyone, there are certain expectations that must be met by everyone.
Be On Time. If you're not early, you are late! Rehearsals WILL start on time, which means you need to be there 15 minutes before rehearsals begin. All actors will need to sign in upon arrival and late actors will be contacted. Tardiness is unacceptable and can lead to your dismissal from the show. Being on time showcases your professionalism and work ethic to the Directors and fellow actors.
Be respectful. This means, respectful of people's time, space, property and ideas. Theater is a safe space to try new things, experiment and we must support each person no matter what their role. Disrespect will not be tolerated.
Learn something. Theater is all about learning from others and yourself. Don't be afraid to learn from things you see and hear and try them out. You can't learn without doing. So be creative and take risks!
Have fun! Theater should first and foremost be fun! Be yourself, be playful and encourage others.
This show includes various roles of leading, supporting, featured and ensemble actors. There will be some roles that will double as other characters. The character breakdown states if they are for a male or female identifying role. Many are interchangable. Various roles require strong singing & dancing while others require none.
Our rehearsals are just the same as practice for any sport and needs everyone's full participation. While the entire cast will not be required to be at every rehearsal at the beginning, I often like to involve everyone as much as possible and maximize the limited rehearsal time that we have. It's important to examine the rehearsal schedule and get a sense of the commitment that being a part of a show requires. Please review the schedule and understand the expectation.
During auditions you may be reading for multiple characters. You may read for a character you haven't listed in your preference. Please read thru these in advance and work to bring strong characterization to each part. Take risks & have fun!
During auditions you will need to sing a portion of one of the songs from the show. Depending on if you are interested in an ensemble role, or a featured role, please practice the corresponding piece. You'll find instructions on how to download & access the backing tracks and links to sheet music.
How many people will be cast - This show does have a smaller cast than our past musicals and will cast approx. 20 students.
What are you looking for during the audition - We are looking for actors who are enthusiastic, have positive attitudes and who are fun and easy to work with. We want to see you shine and to take risks! Don't hold back. Think about the character, how would they talk, move, stand, etc. We want everyone to try hard and have fun. Give us a sense of who you are as an actor!
When will the cast be announced - While always subject to change our goal is to announce the cast on Friday Aug. 30. The first rehearsal will be Monday September 2 for the all cast read-thru.
What if I don't get a role - This is a natural occurrence in theater. While there may have not been the right role for you in this production, that doesn't mean there won't be one in the next show. Keep auditioning. In the mean time, we have opportunities to play in the live-pit orchestra this year as well as tech roles backstage or helping manage front of house on show nights. Contact Eric about how else you can be involved. It takes a lot of people to make a show successful and we need you! Also, for anyone interested, audition feedback will be available to you if request. Feedback on your audition (what you did well, what you might do differently next time, etc.) will be available 1 week after the cast is posted. This allows the emotions to balance out and for you to be able to really hear and absorb the feedback. Contact Eric if that's something you'd like to receive after auditions.
